AN INVESTIGATION OF INDUCED SEPARATION OF SUPER SONIC CHANNEL FLOW.

Abstract

Experiments were conducted to determine the na ture of the interaction between a supersonic main flow through a divergent passage and a secondary flow introduced into the passage through suitable openings in the passage wall. The magnitude of the side force generated by the interaction was determined, Schlieren observations were made of the field of flow and the effective deflection angle of the main flow was established. The influence of various parameters was investigated in the course of study: Mach Number of the main flow and secondary flow at the interaction; ra tio of secondary to primary flow; location, size and shape of secondary flow orifices.
