EXPERIMENTAL SOUND FIELD DISTRIBUTIONS OF A JET WITH A STATIONARY ACOUSTIC SOURCE,

Abstract

Measurements are made in the far field of an axisymmetric jet using a non-convecting ultra sonic source located on the jet axis. Reasonable comparisons are found with the results of an analytical model based on parallel flow and boundaries. Experiments were then carried out on a water table in which a two-dimensional config uration was simulated under conditions of paral lel steady jet flow, and of wavy jet flow. The results confirmed i-ations that the wavy flow in a jet is responsible for the diffusion of sound field directionality. (Author)
