ANALYSIS OF THE ANGULAR DISTRIBUTION OF PION NUCLEON SCATTERING WITHIN THE FRAMEWORK OF THE MANDELSTAM REPRESENTATION,

Abstract

A method is presented for analyzing pion-nucleon scattering data using phase shifts for the low partial waves and a closed term to represent the effect of all higher partial waves. This closed term is calculated assuming that the analytic properties of the scattering amplitude are given by the Mandelstam representation, and consequently, that a fixed energy dispersion relation is valid.
