CW SOLID STATE LASERS (NEW FREQUENCIES).

Abstract

A study was made of refractory host materials for the purpose of extending the useable portion of the electromagnetic spectrum for lasers. Possible systems based on alpha-Al2O3 are pre sented. Emphasis in the experimental work was directed to Y2O3, a new refractory host. Pre liminary results of crystal growth study and spectroscopic measurements are given. (Author)
