SERVO ANALYSIS OF THE LEG MUSCLES OF THE RABBIT,

Abstract

An analysis of the characteristics of a biological muscle system was made by mechanically stimulating the leg muscles of the rabbit. The tension developed by the muscle was measured as a function of the stimulus displacement or tension for varying resting tensions. For a continuous wave stimulus, tension increases linearly with displacement and resting tension. The reflex response to a pulse stimulus was also studied. The greatest responses occurred with the resting tension near the estimated natural resting tension. (Author)
