DETAILED DESIGN COMMON AVIATION WEATHER SYSTEM, VOLUME TWO SUPPLEMENT.

Abstract

The Semiautomatic Meterological Station described in this specification will provide for automatic acquisition, processing and storage of weather information, manual input of weather information, preparation of the message into proper format, and automatic transmission of the message upon demand. The radar digitizer will be a modular, solid state unit of meteorological data reduction equipment. The equipment will be installed in a weather station and will be capable of operation in temperatures from 0 C to +55 C. The radar digitizer will provide for a rapid reduction, composition, storage, and transmission of precipitation data from geographically distributed radar sites within the United States. At specified time intervals, the radar digitizing equipment will be polled and will generate digitized messages depicting the sensed data. These messages will be disseminated by the radar digitizer output modem equipment via communication circuits to a weather processor for input to the current weather analyses. (Author)
