UNDERWATER ACOUSTICS: A SPREADING LOSS EXPRESSION WHICH PERMITS THE USE OF OCEAN BOTTOM CONTOURS

Abstract

This report develops a general spreading loss expression and ray tracing procedure for use in sonar detection studies particularly where shallow water makes bottom topography a significant factor. Any analytically describable ocean bottom can be accommodated by these techniques.
