GRAPHIC FORMAT DATA HANDLING STUDY.

Abstract

A survey and evaluation of graphic materials storage for present day through 1970 is presented. From this survey, optical systems were selected as best suited for storage (purposes) while the storage-medium selection was narrowed to two materials. A series of tests was conducted to make a material selection and to determine a storage format. A present-day copy camera, and a microscope system simulating 1970 storage optics, were used to reduce and enlarge reconnaissance photographs over a range of reduction levels. Photointerpreter analyses of the enlargements were conducted. SO-105 film was determined as the most suitable material and a storage format was selected. (Author)
