ATMOSPHERIC ENVIRONMENT FOR PERSHING MISSILE-408,

Abstract

The atmospheric environment is presented for the flight of PERSHING Missile-408, which was launched on 3 April 1963, from the Atlantic Missile Range. The general synoptic situation for the flight area, surface observations at launch time, and upper air conditions as measured by rawinsondes released as close to missile launch time as possible are given. High altitude wind data over the launch area as determined from a meteorological rocket flight are also presented. Relative deviations of thermodynamic quantities from the Patrick Air Force Base Annual Reference Atmosphere are presented in graphical form for easy reference. (Author)
