RESPONSIVENESS AS AN ORGANIZING PRINCIPLE IN THE ANALYSIS AND DESIGN OF EDUCATIONAL SYSTEMS,

Abstract

Explores the concept of ''responsiveness'' as an organizing principle for a theoretical ana3ysis of the goals and operations of educational systems. States that che ability to respond quickly and effectively to the changing needs of society must be a major consideration in the analysis, design, and evaluation of any school system. Considers the basic elements of responsiveness: (1) Detection of a need; (2) Analysis of the problem; (3) Decision about whether the educational system should respond to this need; (4) Decision about what action to take; (5) Implementation procedures; and (6) Evaluation of effects of action. Examines some of the major sources of needs that might impinge on an actual school system. (Author)
