PERSHING GUIDANCE AND CONTROL COMPARTMENT TEMPERATURE TESTS.

Abstract

A series of environmental tests were performed on the PERSHING guidance and control system of Missile 401 during the months of April and May 1963. The Army Missile Command Test and Evaluation Laboratory utilized PERSHING Captive Test Missile 401 set in the environmental section of the Dual Position Test Stand, Test Area 5. The tests conducted were to determine PERSHING guidance and control system operating temperature parameters under varying temperature, solar loads, and air circulation. Test results indicate that air circulation is required within the guidance and control system compartment in order to dissipate solar heat loads and heat generated by the guidance and control system components.
