A SELF CORRECTING SEQUENTIAL CIRCUIT UTILIZING ERROR CORRECTING CODES,

Abstract

This study develops a model for a self-correcting synchronous sequential circuit by using error correcting codes. The reader is presumed to be familiar with modern algebra. Linear error correcting codes and elementary finite polynomial field theory are reviewed to familiarize the reader with the notation and mathematics of the development. The basic model consists of two parts: the encoder and the corrector. Equations that describe both parts of the model are developed and an example using a simple sequential circuit is presented to show the application of these equations. (Author)
