CONCERNING THE STABILITY OF THE BURNING REGIME OF A POWDER IN A SEMICLOSED SPACE,

Abstract

The stability of steady-stace burning of a powder in a semiclosed space is examined theoretically by the method of small percurbations, taking into 1ccount the temperature distribution in the pooder, the effect of this distribucion on the burning velocity, and the relation between the burning velocity and the pressure. The burning is sh6wn to be unstable al low pressures. A criterion depending on the free v6lume of the chamber and on the area of the critical cross section of the nozzle is given for the conditions of stability. The pattern of the process during unbtable burning is ascertained; a comparison of the theoretical results with an experiment is made. (Author)
