HUMAN-BODY TEMPERATURE CONTROL OF A CRYSTAL OSCILLATOR,

Abstract

The use of the heat regulation properties of the human body to temperature-control a quartz crystal oscillator in order to eliminate the need for an oven has been frequently suggested. This report describes a crystal oscillator especially designed for such use and presents results of tests. Although uncontrolled factors prevented repeatability of test data, results indicate that a frequency-temperature stability better than plus or minus 2 times 10 to the - 7th power over the ambient temperature range of -25 to + 45 C is feasible.
