STUDY OF PULSED RADIATION EFFECTS ON MICROWAVE FERRITE DUPLEXERS.

Abstract

Efforts continued with the third series of radiation environmental experiments conducted during the fifth quarter of the program. Specifically, these experiments were conducted to validate and extend the results obtained on the previously tested coaxial duplexer devices, coaxial cables, and waveguides, and to initiate the study of waveguides duplexers. The data obtained for the radiation effects on the operative characteristics of these components are presented together with the associated nuclear dosimetry as supplied by the SPRF. An attempt to pulse-modulate the low power r-f signals used in previous experiments in anticipation of the future high power tests is briefly explained and analyzed. Also, procedures for testing the components with high static d-c voltages and low CW power (less than one watt) are reviewed. Photographs of the important set-ups along with oscilloscope traces of the effects are presented to give the reader a better view of the procedures. (Author)
