WELDING OF REFRACTORY METALS.

Abstract

The weld parameters speed, amperage and electrode configuration are reviewed and the effects of these parameters on the bend ductility of TZM are presented. The effects of InFab atmosphere variations on bend ductility of TZM, B-66, 90Ta-10W and W are given as preliminary data. The effects of welding these materials under varying degrees of restraint (patchtest) are shown. A detailed description of the forthcoming program of weld parameters on thick mechanical butt joints is presented. (Author)
