SPECTROPHOTOMETRY OF SOLAR PROMINENCES (SPEKTROFOTOMETRIIA SOLNECHNYKH PROTUBERANTSEV),

Abstract

The result is given of measuring the equivalent width of seven lines of the Balmer series, H and KCa+, and the series He 5876, 4472 and 4026 lines of the spectra of 30 prominences obtained during the three total solar eclipses of 1941, 1945 and 1952. A description is given of the method of measuring and processing the observational data from which we obtained the densities of hydrogen atoms (in the second quantum state) and calcium atoms, the electron density, the excitation temperature of hydrogen and helium, and the ratio of the numbers of He+/H+ atoms.
