SQUEEZE BEARINGS.

Abstract

This brief preliminary report on the squeeze film effect is presented to convey the most interesting and important results of the effort thus far. A final report on the pure squeeze film experiment (the verification of the isothermal solution of the Reynolds equation) is under way and will be completed as soon as sufficient experimental data are available. The investigation has now crystallized into five areas: (1) Verification of the isothermal solution of the Reynolds equation; (2) The sqdeeze bearing effect; (3) The squeeze film effect in self-acting thrust bearings; (4) Practical driving sources to achieve the squeeze bearing effect; (5) The squeeze journal bearing.
