STUDIES OF REFRACTORY ALLOY SHEET MATERIALS.

Abstract

The following alloys have been consolidated by the vacuum-arc-casting technique, and converted to 0.05-in.-thick sheet: (1) Mo + 1.59% Cb + 0.52% Ti + 0.21% Zr + 0.068% C, (2) Mo + 1.30% Ti + 0.35% Zr + 0.093% C, (3) W + 3.10% Mo + 0.04% Zr + 0.001% C. The two molybdenum-base alloys were either recrystallized, solution treated, or solution treated and aged prior to rolling. The tungsten-base alloy was in the recrystallized condition prior to rolling to final size. Tensile and creep-rupture tests are in progress on specimens machined from the rolled sheets. (Author)
