PHASED ARRAY STUDY.

Abstract

Research concerns the development of digital phase shifters using semiconductor diode switches for use in a phased array antenna. A ten element antenna array will be designed and tested at S-Band. Circuit analysis of the phase bit was conducted to obtain design criteria for high power, low loss bits which will operate over at least a 10-percent frequency band. Analysis was made for the forward mode, reverse mode, and diode on a stub. The results show the requirements for high junction capacitance and low diode resistance (both forward and reverse). The impedance level of operation should be low. (Author)
