BUCKLING AND ULTIMATE STRENGTH OF PLATING LOADED IN EDGE COMPRESSION UNSTIFFENED PANELS.

Abstract

The buckling and ultimate compressive strengths were determined for various types of steel and aluminum plates. Each plate was simply supported and loaded in edge compression. Ultimate strengths were different from those expected, using present design procedures and, as a result, a design change is recommended. (Author)
