STATISTICS OF VISIBILITY IN SATELLITE COMMUNICATION SYSTEMS,

Abstract

Methods to calculate the statistics of satellite visibility are discussed. Results are given to illustrate the effects of altitude and choice of orbit on the number of satellites that must be placed in orbit. Some statistical consequences of shared use are given and some benefits of non-random satellite disposition are demonstrated. (Author)
