COST ESTIMATING FOR RESEARCH, DEVELOPMENT, AND INFORMATION PROCESSING PROGRAMS: AN ANNOTATED BIBLIOGRAPHY,
Abstract
This bibliography is the result of a literature search on methods for estimating costs, particularly relating to manpower requirements, for aerospace R and D, engineering, information processing, and advanced programs. Very little has been published on this specific problem, and most related materials deal with cost control; budgeting and accounting procedures; R and D evaluation relative to company finances; estimating capital outlay; or estimating costs for development of very specific processes. In other words, much has been said on the importance of estimating costs, but very little on how to actually go about it. It has appeared from this study that methods for cost estimation might best be developed by the adaption of cost control methods. Some references are not annotated because they are not available. The period searched was 1956October 1963. (Author)
