TIME INTERVAL RANDOM VARIABLES FOR A CLASS OF TWO DIMENSIONAL QUEUES,

Abstract

There is discussed the computation of the moments of waiting time, service time and departure interval for a class of two dimensional queues. Only the moments of the waiting time may be related to the state of the systems random variable easily. The direct approach to the computation of any time interval from the steady state probabilities is considered. To use this, one must identify the set of states in which the interval may start, compute the conditional probability of starting in each state, compute the sequences of events leading to the end of the interval and determine the probability and time spent for each sequence.
