ATTENUATION OF THE EARTH'S ATMOSPHERE BETWEEN THE FREQUENCIES OF 100 AND 140 GC/S.

Abstract

This report describes the investigation of atmospheric oxygen and water vapor attenuation between the frequencies of 116 and 124 Gc/s by measurements of the attenuation of simulated atmospheres in a 500 foot long absorption cell and by measurements of the total attenuation through the earth's atmosphere. The results of the two types of measurements are correlated, using Van Vleck-Weisskopf line shape and intensity factors. (Author)
