VERIFICATION OF A LIGHT-ABSORPTIVITY TEST FOR POLYETHYLENE-CARBON BLACK COMPOSITIONS.

Abstract

A round-robin test program was carried out to verify the inter-laboratory reproducibility of a light-absorptivity test for weather-resistant polyethylene compounds. Three of six participating laboratories showed reasonably good agreement. The other laboratories did not follow the recommended procedure in all of the pertinent details. Factors contributing to the lack of reproducibility are now understood, and it is believed that the test can be significantly improved, as a result of information obtained during this study. Recommendations to this effect are made in the report. (Author)
