APPLICABLE DEVELOPMENTS IN STRESS-ANALYSIS THEORY,

Abstract

A method of solution for the varying stress distribution in a hollow spinning, pressurized, circular cylinder with cavity ablation is described, which can include general linear viscoelastic response in both shear and dilatation. Application of this work demands a knowledge of the relaxation modulus in dilatation, for which only preliminary measurements are now becoming available, but the cylinder solution offers the possibility of deducing this function from measurements on a cylinder encased in metal supports, which will permit much more accurate strain determination.
