C-BAND TRIODE-CAVITY OSCILLATORS, PRODUCTION ENGINEERING MEASURE.

Abstract

Presented is a triode design for CW cavity oscillators with an anode contact for reduced diameter. Tubes have been made and tested in cavities with promising results. Triodes for pulse operation will not utilize this small diameter anode contact. Tests on pulse tube-cavity combinations have revealed some discrepancies in test results between readings taken at initial fabrication and after run-in. Recent work has revealed several reasons which have not been verified. Design work toward reducing cavity diameter for the CW oscillator in two steps to 1/2'' did not look promising. A 5/8'' diameter design similar to the pulse cavity design has been chosen. (Author)
