THERMOELECTRIC MATERIALS.

Abstract

The resistivities and Seebeck coefficients in the homogeneous liquid region of the bismuth-sulfur system have been determined at several compositions. These parameters show essentially metallic characteristics from 0 to 50 atom percent sulfur. Above the latter concentration they become characteristic of an n-type semiconducting material. Assuming the validity of band gap energy calculations for this system a value of 1.38 eV is obtained for stoichiometric bismuth sulfide. (Author)
