MODELS FOR ESTIMATING THE ABSORBED DOSE FROM ASSIMILATION OF RADIONUCLIDES IN BODY ORGANS OF HUMANS,

Abstract

Equations for estimating the absorbed dose from assimilation of radionuclides in the body organs of humans are presented for several assumed conditions of ingestion rates that are considered applicable to the consumption of human foods following contamination by fallout in a nuclear war. The absorbed dose model equations giving the body organ elimination rates are based on the assumption that the elimination rate is proportional to number of atoms in all organs except the gastrointestinal tract. The absorbed dose equations and parameter constants for both young and adult humans are summarized. (Author)
