FIELD TESTS TO DETERMINE THE HOLDING CAPACITY OF EXPLOSIVE IMBEDMENT ANCHORS,

Abstract

The first objective of these tests is to determine the feasibility of using the explosive imbedment anchor as an anchoring device for a submerged, buoyant chamber. The second objective is to determine the effects of sediment strength and anchor characteristics on the pene tration and holding capacity of imbedment anchors. Measurements were made of the anchors' holding capacity. Bottom sediment samples were taken at each test location. These samples were analyzed so that bearing strengths of the sediments could be calculated. (Author)
