DEEP RESISTIVITY INVESTIGATION IN NORTHERN NEW YORK STATE,

Abstract

During July, 1963 deep resistivity measurements were made in the Adirondack Region of upper New York state. The survey was to provide supplementary information for deep strata communication studies. Measurements using 2 mile dipole lengths and separations up to 30 miles indicated a resistivity of about 25,000 ohm-meters for the anorthosite mass. Resistivity values increased with dipole separation to about 25,000 ohmmeters. There were no indications of a decrease at depth. A two-layer earth model with upper layer resistivity of 1000 ohm-meters, upper layer depth of 700 feet, and lower layer resistivity of 25,000 ohm-meters appears to be a fairly adequate model of the anorthosite mass.
