THE CONSISTENCY OF HUMAN BEHAVIOR IN VARIOUS SITUATIONS. A METHODOLOGICAL APPLICATION OF FUNCTIONAL ECOLOGICAL PSYCHOLOGY,

Abstract

An exploration of the relationship between ecology and human behavior was conducted within the framework of Functional Ecological Psychology. A unique experimental design which required that independent and dependent variables be multivariate, and that the natural life situation of the subject not be interfered with by the investigator was originated for this study. The design is multivariate both with respect to independent and dependent variables, which emphasizes a probabilistic relationship between situations (independent variables or stimuli) and response (dependent variables of behaviors). The probabilistic relationship is explicit in that lack of response by the S in a situation is scored as ''zero,'' not as missing data. (Author)
