ON THE NON-EQUILIBRIUM LOCALLY SIMILAR BOUNDARY LAYER WITH SCALING APPLICATIONS,

Abstract

Solutions are presented for the laminar boundary layer development on a flat plate with finite rate oxygen dissociation by the method of local similarity. Comparison with the nonsimilar analyses of Chung and Anderson, and Blottner for pure oxygen indicates good agreement for the atom and temperaure profiles through the boundary layer in the case of an adiabatic and non-catalytic wall. Binary scaling laws are demonstrated for application of these results to different altitudes, to the slender cone, and to the air mixture. The same principle can be used to construct approximate solutions with strong pressure interaction from the solution with no interaction; (Author)
