Abstract

This test shows that 4340 steel notch tensile specimens crack-free chromium plated in the area of the notch and then embrittlement relief treated 23 hours at 375 F will withstand sustained loading of up to 500 hours at 75% of the notched ultimate tensil strength. (Author)
