A BALLISTIC METEOROLOGICAL DATA-REDUCTION PROGRAM FOR BASICPAC. PHASE II,

Abstract

A ballistic meteorological data reduction program for Computer Set, General Purpose AN/TYK-6(V) (BASICPAC) is described. This data-reduction program accepts radiosonde flight data as presented by Converter, Radiosonde Data CV-857(XE-1), and processes it to produce meteorological messages as required of an artillery meteorological section, i.e., NATO 2, NATO 3, artillery computer, fallout, and Air Weather Service. The unique feature of this program is its ability to select, from the large mass of unprocessed data, meteorologically significant levels. A meteorological data-reduction program of this type, with modifications, is capable of being used as a part of the Artillery Meteorological System (AMS), a subsystem of the Army Integrated Meteorological System (AIMS).
