WELDING OF REFRACTORY METALS.

Abstract

A description of the detailed program is outlined. The work includes an initial evaluation of welding parameters (Phase II). Individual tasks include a study of heat input in refractory metal welding, the establishment of optimum general procedures, the effect of filler metals and variations of shielding gas contamination. Procedure qualifications (Phase III) evaluate several pieces of welding equipment. Phase IV consists of Evaluation of Progress and Recommendations. Phase I work (Literature and Industrial survey) has begun and the preliminary results are reported. (Author)
