INTERZONAL TRADE IN GERMANY, PART II. INTERACTION WITH EARLY BERLIN CONFLICTS,

Abstract

This is the second part of a continuing study of the economic relations between West and East Germany, and their interaction with political developments in the Berlin area and elsewhere. It describes and analyzes the beginning of interzonal trade, and the relations between this trade and the ''Berlin conflicts'' in the period 1948 to 1952. The study recalls some of the early phases of the struggle over the body and soul of Europe that began with Hitler's downfall and has continued ever since. To see the struggle through to a good conclusion, it is important that the West remain aware of its history. (Author)
