RUGGED, CERAMIC, MINIATURE HYDROGEN THYRATRON.

Abstract

The development of the types 8191 and 8192 hydrogen thyratrons is described. The tubes are miniature ceramic envelope types having external anodes and grids. The principal difficulty in the development was concerned with the cathode heaters. The major portion of the time was expended in attempting to meet the initial objectives of 30 second heating times with 14 watts combined cathode and reservoir heater power. This was not found possible and both power and time were increased. The switching power handling capabilities of the tubes were increased beyond the original proposal. Various test were performed and reported and specifications were prepared. (Author)
