EXCITATION OF SPECTRA BY ION BOMBARDMENT,

Abstract

From the study of spectra produced by ion bombardments in gases, it can be concluded that gases are excited mainly by charge exchange accompanied by excitation (at low ion energy) and by ionization followed by excitation (at high energy of the order of several tens of Kev). For both these processes the resultant products may be dissociated. (Author)
