INSTRUCTION MANUAL FOR WIDE BANDWIDTH TRANSMITTER.

Abstract

A wide bandwidth transmitter having a frequency range of 1224 to 1386 megacycles, with center frequency at 1230 megacycles, has been designed and fabricated. It has a total power output of 10 kolowatts peak, or 600 watts average, a pulse repetition frequency of 600 cycles, and pulse widths of 10, 30, 60 and 100 microseconds. The equipment consists basically of a final power amplifier and a driver modulator. The final power amplifier includes two L-band traveling wave tubes which can operate either singly (5 KILOWATTS PEAK) or in parallel (10 kolowatts peak), and associated isolators, adaptors and waveguide plumbing. The driver modulator supplies all input voltages and power for the operation of the final power and amplifier. The two system inputs are at frequencies of 240 and 10 megacycles at bandwidths of 100 and 10 megacycles, respectively. This report (instruction manual) contains information on the theory of operation of the transmitter, and instructions on installation, servicing, and operation. Parts lists, separate manuals for vendor-supplied equipment, and electrical and mechanical drawings required for installation, servicing and operation, are also included. (Author)
