OPTIMUM CONTROL OF LINEAR SYSTEMS WITH A ' 'MODIFIED' ' ENERGY CONSTRAINT.

Abstract

In this report, the control object (plant) is assumed to be linear, and in general, time varying; i.e., the plant can be represented by a set of linear time varying differential equations. The object is to determine the control function which transfers the plant from an initial condition (such as a set of values for initial position, initial velocity, initial acceleration, etc.) to a final condition (such as a desired set of values for position, velocity, etc.) in minium time or with minimum amount energy (when the time of operation such as flight time is given). When it is not possible to reach the desired final condition the object will be to find the control function which transfers the system as close as possible to the desired state. (Author)
