Abstract

The purpose of the Symposium was to further the operations research program of the Army by: Emphasizing the role that operations research has played and can play in the solution of military problems and in the improvement of military operations. Acquainting participants with the Army's operations research projects and in-house capabilities. Acquainting Army operations research personnel with new developments in the field, including: New tools, techniques, and applications. Present Army organization for operations research. Operations research training currently available for Army personnel; Providing a forum for presentation and discussion of problems that may be best studied using operations research techniques. Increasing the quality and applicability of results obtained in operations research studies; Providing Army personnel in operations research with an opportunity to become acquainted with each other and with nationally known leaders in the field of operations research.
