DEVELOPMENT OF LOW NOISE TRAVELING-WAVE TUBES, PHASE III: ENVIRONMENTALIZATION.
Abstract
During the period, two tubes were shipped. Two additional tubes had completed all rf and environmental tests and were ready for life testing. The M5059 life test tube had operated for 1625 hours with only minor changes in performance. These changes are not significant to systems performance. The L-band performance continues to fall short of the contractual objectives. The high helix voltage designs cannot be operated at high enough beam currents to give the required gain without having excessively high noise figures. (Author)
