BL-221 70 GC MAGNETRON PRODUCTION ENGINEERING MEASURE

Abstract

Work performed during this period included the following: The problem of cathode poisoning resulting in tube power output deterioration is believed to have been solved through improvements made in anode processing. Use of a smaller diameter cathode was tried with some success in reducing leakage currents and improvement in tube power output. The combination however of this change and the new anode processing technique which employs electrolytic polishing resulted in a substantial increase in the peak anode voltage correction of which might require design changes in the anode and cathode. Experimental work with cold anode hobbing was initiated.
