EFFECTS OF VARIOUS RE-ENTRY VEHICLE PARAMETERS ON RF ATTENUATION,

Abstract

The effects of antenna location, cone angle nose radius, signal frequency, velocity, and wall temperature on rf signal attenuation are examined. Results for the various parameters are presented, as well as altitude-velocity maps for lines of constant rf attenuation. A clean equilibrium air fluid flow model is assumed, and the results are presented for a thin slab electromagnetic model and for a semi-infinite electromagnetic model. (Author)
