NOTES ON BASIC RESEARCH ON STATIC AND DYNAMIC NONLINEAR STRUCTURAL PROBLEMS,

Abstract

Static and dynamic, nonlinear, large-deflection structural problems have been studied, and are presented in this report. Both geometrical nonlinearities, due to finite deformations of the structure, and physical nonlinearities due to plasticity, are included in this investigation. The work is presented as three serarate notes with the following titles: (1) Plane Stress Yield Condition for Oblique Coordinate Systems; (2) Instability of Circular Rings Confined to a Ridid Boundary; and (3) Numerical Solutions for Large Deflections and Rotations of Thin Elastic-Plastic Spherical Shells and Rings.
