SERVICE LIFE TEST OF CARTRIDGE GAS GENERATOR FOR THE ADM-20 MISSILE (FORMERLY THE GAM-72),

Abstract

This test was initiated to determine the effects of operational service conditions on the useful life of the Gas Generating, Cartridge. The cartridges were shipped to OOAMA from the various locations in which they had been in service. All cartridges were fired in a closed chamber having a volume of 27 cubic centimeters. The ignition delay, pressure rise time and maximum pressure were all within specification limits. The only data which did not meet the specifications was that obtained on the bridge wire resistance and on time from ignition to peak pressure. Of the 28 cartridges tested, nine failed to function.
