ON THE MICROANATOMY OF THE MELON AND SURROUNDING INTEGUMENT OF THE PORPOISE (TURSIOPS TRUNCATUS),

Abstract

A general anatomical and histological description of the melon and surrounding integument of Tursiops truncatus is presented. The melon is defined as that large protuberance of fatty connective tissue anterior to the blowhole and extending superiorly along the premaxilla. The histological relationship between the melon and the surrounding body structures was investigated. (Author)
