INORGANIC AND ORGANIC ONIUM SALTS.
Abstract
Data on the infrared spectra of several nitrosonium salts are presented. A survey of the interaction between nitrosyl halides and metal halides and between nitrogen tetroxide and metal halides is being made. This has been completed in the case of the elements Ti, Zr, V, Nb, and Ta and several new compounds have been prepared. A new method has been found for the preparation of tetra-alkyl ammonium salts of complex halo-acids. It is believed that many new compounds will be found from the reactions between nitrosyl halides or dinitrogen tetroxide and the anhydrous halides of the rest of the Periodic Table. (Author)
